Manolis Georgoulis is a Professor at the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences of the National Technical University of Athens.
Georgoulis is also a Professor of Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University, UK, as well as an Affiliated Researcher at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas.
Georgoulis works within the broad areas of Numerical Analysis, Scientific Computing, and Approximation Theory.
His research interests include the development, analysis and implementation of novel `smart' numerical methods for complex PDE problems and their application within real-life complex system simulations.
His research is also concerned with the development and analysis of algorithms for challenging problems in high-dimensional approximation.
Georgoulis serves as Associate Editor in the SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis since 2018.
His research activity has received funding from UKRI, The Leverhulme Trust, the European Union (H2020 framework), the HFRI (ELIDEK), as well as from non-academic entities such as General Electric and the British Geological Survey.
Georgoulis has presented a number of plenary, keynote and invited talks at leading international conferences in Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing.
