Michalis Loulakis is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and an Affiliated Researcher at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas.
He received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering from NTUA and his PhD in Mathematics from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of the New York University.
He has worked as a visiting Professor at the Université de Rouen, as an Assistant Professor at the University of Crete and as a Post-Doc at the University of Cambridge and ETH Zürich.
His research focuses on Stochastic Mathematics and, in particular, on Large Scale Interacting Stochastic Systems, Large Deviations Theory and Optimal Management of Stochastic systems.
His research has been published in leading international journals of Probability and Physics and has been funded by the European Commission (FP5 & FP6), the EU Regional Development Fund, the IKY and the HFRI.
He has been an invited speaker in numerous international conferences and is a member of the editorial board of the Bulletin of the Hellenic Mathematical Society.
He is a holder of an international patent.
