Filia (Ilia) Vonta did her undergraduate studies at the University of Patras, Greece (B.Sc. in
Mathematics) and her graduate studies at the University of Maryland, USA (M.A. and
PhD. in Mathematical Statistics). She worked previously at the University of
Cyprus, Department of Mathematics from which she retired in 2009 from the
position of Associate Professor. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at the
National Technical University of Athens, School of Applied Mathematical and
Physical Sciences. She held short visiting positions at the National and
Kapodistrian University of Athens and in many occasions in Université René
Descartes - Paris V.
Her primary research interests include the areas of Survival Analysis, Biostatistics, Semiparametric
Statistics, Nonparametric Statistics, Reliability and Divergence Measures. She has published
more than 30 research papers in international journals while
she has edited the publication of a scientific book by Springer and one by CRC
Taylor and Francis. She has been Guest Editor in three international scientific
journals and she is, among others, an Associate Editor of the journal Lifetime
Data Analysis.
